OUR PERSONNEL FOR THE EVENING ARE AS FOLLOWS:
----------------------------------------------------

DANNY VALENTINE cut his musical teeth in teenage seaside punk band FUCK and Anglo-algerian noise pop group ID FIXE. He wasted time writing country and western songs for some un-repeatably fuckwitted major label cunts and made up for it producing beautiful swedish electro goths NEW SKIN and seven foot tall flame-haired troubadour JAMES STEVENS. Latterly, he has released records as RODEZ, THE SECRET SYMPHONY and DANNY VALENTINE & THE MEDITAIONS. He is currently the boss of HIS DARK MASTER RECORDINGS, a tiny record label based in West London and also runs THE DARK ROOM recording studio in Brixton. His other interests include make-believe shark fishing (originally read as 'shark fisting' by this editor), british cheeses and organ transplantation.

SHIRLEY SMART was born in the UK, and studied music in London. She then moved to Israel, where she became very involved with Middle Eastern and North African music, performing with many of the regions leading musicians, and touring Egypt, Morocco, Jordan as well of much of Europe. Now living in London again, she is performing with several World Music groups, including gypsy string trio Kosmos, Alejandro Toledo and the Magic Tombolinos, Al-Farabi Ensemble, and Indian fusion band Fusion Mantra. She is also studying jazz, and is performing in a jazz duo with guitarist Rohit Nijawan, as well as having just formed her own group Melange – a collective of acoustic musicians from differing backgrounds, including Middle Eastern, Indian and jazz. Shirley also teaches musicianship at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, and on Mondays goes round Barking and Dagenham on her bike teaching the cello.

ROWLAND SUTHERLAND regularly performs in new music ensembles, symphony orchestras, jazz groups, various non-Western groups, pop outfits and as a soloist. He fronts his own band, the critically acclaimed MISTURA. He was voted the number one Flutist in the Brazilian newspaper Tribuna da Imprensa in The 24th Annual Jazz Poll. He has played and recorded with; George Benson, Incognito, Joss Stone, MC Solaar, Keziah Jones, Omar, Marc Almond, London Philharmonic and Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet. His Composition commissions include those written for the percussion quartet Ensemble Bash, the contemporary music group The New Music Players, and jazz trumpeter Chris Hodgkins.

THE DURRELL FAMILY are as country as a cow pie in the jaws of a hungry cowboy, rattling, rolling, snake-wrestling anthems travel through their ears. It's opium, it's Mazzy Star, it's Dolly Parton on toast.

LIZA ANGST ... "As a child, swore I would play drums or die ... Stole the money to buy my first kit in my teens ... History of Luminous Motion ... Soon tired of playing with wondering guitars ... The Spitters, with the now late Mark Ashwill, fired the rest of the band and made the best recording they ever did ... Tone Death with Nathaniel Lee Jones ... got asked to release our single in the first Le Book ... said NO (?!?!?) ... 23 Lines "Bit Rock" with guest vocals from Tree Carr, Pippa Brooks and Paloma Faith ... But I am really just a "Computerist" Joe and Duke Brooks.

TREE CARR has been active in the film/music/artworld for the past ten years. As a musician she has worked with numerous London based bands and more recently and notably with White Cube avant garde composer and audio visual artist Christian Marclay on a film noise piece involving electric guitar called SOLO. It was on this piece that she was tutored by Keith Rowe, 'the godfather of electroacoustic improvisation'.

ADAM CARR doesn't play music, and holds a general distrust of professionals.

TODAY IS BORING brings you a themed film night which couples a live freeform audio score from various performers, giving us all the chance to see and hear a completely new experience. We hope there will be many more to come. The films you see may or may not be familiar to you, and will not be restricted to silent films, as is often the case with standard 'film with live music' excursions. Our intentions are to remove the primary source of direction and literal meaning from the experience of a film, its original sound, and give the visuals a different and new context, exploring a range of feelings and atmospheres, not necessarily limited to conventional 'music' per se.
